PASET is a parent organization designed to facilitate the exchange of information and promote parent advocacy in an effort to improve the school system for ALL children.
Our amazing team is made up of parents and caregivers who are willing to share information and personal experiences, help direct parents when necessary and provide district personnel with newsletter or announcement materials.
We have a liaison that represents us at each of the four elementary schools, the middle school and the high school. Most reps attend our monthly SEPAC meetings and are willing to share their experiences with other parents.
Originally know as "ASET", this parent organization was founded by forward thinking parents in the early 1970s in an effort to advocate for fairness and inclusion for their children who had special educational needs.
ASET has slowly evolved into "PASET" which stands for Parents Association for Special Education in Tenafly.
Our parent support group is designed to exchange information and promote advocacy in an effort to ensure that all our children have an effective, healthy, rewarding school day, each and every day.
We are a welcoming place for parents to turn to when they are navigating the uncharted territory of Special Education.
We work together with Tenafly District Administrators to help develop town programs. We sponsor meetings with guest speakers and arrange informal breakfast meetings to discuss areas of concern and interest.
PASET has developed a Parent Directory and continues to expand its resources with local parent referrals. Working together with other nonprofits in town has allowed us to be part of yearly fundraisers.
On or around the third Wednesday of each month during the school year is when we hold our meetings. Our meetings will be held in-person as well as virtually this year. In addition, our meetings will alternate between daytime and evening to accommodate more of our community. Please contact us to be added to our email list for important updates as well as the access link to login virtually to these meetings at PasetofTenafly@gmail.com.
On the first Wednesday of each month a more formal meeting is held with Mrs. Monica Heinze, the Director of Special Education for Tenafly Public Schools. These are the monthly SEPAC meetings that are held on site and virtually at the Tenafly Board of Education. Here is where we are able to meet face to face with district administrators, guest speakers, receive valuable updates about what is going on in the district and so on.
Please see the monthly calendar below for meeting times and dates.
